Happy Sunday Everyone! As promised, here is the reveal of my “Dining Room Do-Over”! It took almost two weeks to complete and now it’s finished! The room is much lighter and brighter than it was. Nicole, my painter, was wonderful to work with. She achieved the look I had envisioned brilliantly! She softened the stripes just right and now the room reflects the romantic feeling I wanted.
Above the rose wall prints and again on the back wall I hung plates. They give the area more interest. Plates make great accessories for walls when you need to fill spaces that seem rather bare. These white plates have an antique look that blends in nicely with the decor.
This sideboard is actually an unused dresser. A glass company fit a piece of glass over the top to protect it. I like to use glass over tops as protection, because you can still see the top through it. I added the etagere, seen here, for interest and function. When I have company over for a dinner party, the etagere can be used as a serving piece. But for now, I’m using it as a display.
I filled a ceramic pot with lovely faux white Hydrangeas for my centerpiece. The lanterns and the Hydrangeas were bought at Pier 1 Imports. The lanterns happened to be on clearance which was wonderful! My husband and I went on a little tour to some of Connecticut’s Pier 1 Imports (3 to be exact), to find the amounts I needed in time for my reveal. (He even treated me to a nice dinner at one of our favorite restaurants at the end of our search.)
An electric fireplace that I had in my bedroom replaced a buffet. The buffet is now in the foyer right off the dining room and can still be used there, if needed.
Here is the buffet in the foyer…
I always wanted a fireplace in the dining room. This one fits beautifully! The mirror over it adds height and charm. The mirror was originally here over the buffet, but works even better now over the fireplace.
As pieces were being moved around, this Thomas Kinkade painting found it’s way into the corner of the dining room. It’s a whimsical accessory that adds fun to a relatively formal room. It’s my unexpected item!
Thanks for visiting today to see my dining room renovation! It was fun posting the changes on a day-to-day basis. Now that this one’s complete, it’s on to the next change! Well, maybe not quite yet, but soon. I just have to convince Mr. Lovely Livings!
Have a Lovely Sunday!
