Hello Everyone!
Today I’m sharing my living room mantel with you. I’m always thinking of new ways to decorate it. We use the living room more during the winter months than now, but I like to keep the design of the room fresh.
Above the mantel is the peacock painting I love! When I first spotted it many years ago, I knew just where to put it! It’s been there ever since. I wanted to add other paintings to the area, but how? I thought small was the way to go. I collected some of the small pieces I had around the house and put them together on the mantel.
I wanted the collection to look balanced. This would give the design a formal and traditional look. I had five small paintings to use. Two sets of two were the same frame styles and size. The fifth piece had a different frame style and size than the others. I didn’t want the design to look unbalanced, so I decided to place that painting with the fleur-de-lis arrangement in the middle of the mantel. This solved the problem and kept the vignette looking as I wanted.
The fleur-de-lis arrangement was placed on top of some small sized books. This was to give it more height and interest. Your eyes easily go from the middle of the vignette to the outer edges.
This is a close up shot of the peacock painting. The colors of the small paintings work well with the colors used in this piece. All these pieces of art, work well together and make a pleasing design composition.
Thanks for visiting my mini art display today!
