Autumn Island Display

DSC_0028

It’s definitely feeling like Autumn here in Connecticut. The weather has been cold, windy and rainy for the past few days. Yuck! Being that I’m stuck inside today, I thought I would create a little Autumn display on my kitchen island and share it with you.

I put together a few Autumn items that would work well in the kitchen. I wanted it to be functional and decorative at the same time.

I’ve nestled my chicken tureen in nicely with the other tureens on the island counter. The pumpkin tureen is filled with festive pumpkins and gourds. I made it look like I’m ready to serve up pumpkin and gourd soup with the ladle. I wanted to create an artistic view with the elements I used. You don’t have to make everything utilitarian in a design. I wanted it to look pretty and fun along with it’s functionality. I have the other tureen filled with chocolate chip, sugar and frosted sugar cookies.

I placed tea light candles (cinnamon of course) in canning jars for a warm lovely glow. I love the scent of cinnamon this time of year! It fills my kitchen with a wonderful aroma that lingers into the other rooms nicely. Small leaf snack bowls add a sweet touch to the display. I love how they fit in!

An apothecary jar is filled with oatmeal raisin cookies and the pumpkin cookie jar is filled with what else, peanut butter cookies! My display/vignette has a sugary theme going on if you haven’t noticed.;)

A simple bow is tied onto this carafe and filled with apple cider from our local orchard. It is ready to be served in these cute dairy bottles. I dressed the bottles and the pumpkin cookie jar up with some twine, so to make the design feel more Autumn-ish.

  1. Your display is so ‘sweet’! πŸ™‚ Really it’s eye candy with so much to see and you’ve arranged everything just perfectly. Looks like a fall cookie party is about to start! I love our blog!

    • Hi Bobbi! Ohhh… I love aromatherapy! I must have spent a fortune in candles, wax melts and plug-ins from Yankee candle, Bath and Body and Claire Burke. If I give something away to someone they always say it smells just like your house…like a boutique! That’s how I know I’m doing a good job! lol
Thanks for visiting me today and your support!
      Have a lovely weekend!

  2. Lovely Fall display, and I am ready to join your party cause looks like some really
    good eats there……..lol
Love all those pretty white pumpkins…….it is strange I have not seen any white or
the ones that are white with stripes either this year……….maybe it is still too early.
Believe it or not, I still have a real lil white pumpkin from last year, and it is more
of a cream color now, but still look great………….

    Blessings and Happy Fall,
    Nellie

    • Thanks Nellie for your visit today and for your lovely comment! I do appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment. The white boo pumpkins are hard to find this year…I only found a few myself. You kept one for a year? Wow! I wouldn’t think they would last.
Blessings to you too and have a lovely weekend!

  5. Thank you so much for joining the Celebrate Southern Linkup!! This post is so lovely! I adore the jars! I have the same glass pumpkin packed away somewhere… gotta try to find that before the season passes! πŸ™‚ I’m pinning this to our Celebrate Southern Pin Board now! πŸ™‚

  6. It is simply beautiful, and is making me want to bake something! I love creating vignettes on my island, too. It’s large enough, that I can have something fun and seasonal in the center and still have plenty of room to work or serve food. I really like all the glass pieces with just a few pottery items here and there — very nicely done!

    • Thank you Carol for your lovely comment and for the visit yesterday! I do enjoy decorating my island for the holidays and seasons. It’s fun to change it up and keep it fresh.
      Happy Halloween and weekend!
