Making Perfect Pillows With Just the Right Trims

I love trimmed pillows! I love the elegant and decorative look from trimmed pillows. Whenever I buy a pillow that has none, I find a way to fit the pillow with the appropriate trim.

Over this Christmas holiday, I found these adorable owl pillows in red. They matched the brown one I had from last year.

I thought the brown owl pillow needed an extra touch when I bought it, so I embellished it with decorative trim that matched the colors in the owl. It came out prefect!

I needed to find some trims that would make these new pillows more festive for the holiday and for winter use as well.

I found not one, but two different types of trim to use. The top is a beaded trim and the bottom is a brushed trim.

I hot glued the brush trim on to the pillow first. It’s very easy! I used a large style hot glue gun. Just be careful not to get the glue on you. I was next to my sink in my laundry room, just in case I got glued and I did. Ouch!!! It hurts to be beautiful or make your home beautiful. Cold water helps a lot! I then glued the beaded trim over the brushed trim and voila!

After a few painful incidences, my pillows looked much prettier.

See how nicely they fit in with the other trimmed pillows. It might be just me, but I like the look much better!

  1. Lu Ann, you made that pillow go from charming to amazing!!! Wish you were my neighbor–I know you could really teach me ways to jazz up ANYTHING. I love your blog, lady!

    • Thanks Bobbi! Just keep following me and I’ll show you all sorts of jazzy things. My son wants me to do design videos on You Tube, but I’m not sure that’s the way yet. The comments might not be as nice as the ones I get here. This is where it’s nice and safe. Thank you for loving my blog!
      Hope your weekend is lovely!

  2. Your owls are beautiful and I’m in love with the red chair!!!
I LOVE trimmed pillows, and since I usually make my own, I can “fancify” to my heart’s desire!!! There is a great place in Kerrville, TX , to buy all sorts of trims. We usually get there a couple of times a year, and I have a ball buying two yards of this and that. In a pinch, I have even been known to combine two trims end to end…half on two sides and a different piece on the other two ;-). People may think I’m strange, but they are too polite to say anything!
    Blessings to you,
    J

    • Hi J! Thanks for your lovely comments! I guess you can say we are both trim people! I just love the way various trims make pillows, drapery, furniture or anything look more elegant. It’s that special touch that makes a difference.
      Happy Sunday!

  3. That owl is so cute! You did a great job dressing him up with the trim. Thank you for sharing at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a great week!
    Blessings,
