Kitchen Herb Garden

Kitchen Herb Garden
I love terrariums! My heart jumped for joy when I found this one years ago. It’s shape and size was perfect for my kitchen and I especially loved it’s scroll wire design. Scroll wire reminds me of lace, it’s so pretty and dainty.

The other day I purchased some herbs and thought how nice it would be if I could keep them in the kitchen for daily use. The terrarium I have is directly in front of my atrium door. Atrium doors are french style doors with only one door that opens. The other door is fixed closed. The terrarium is in front of the fixed door, of course. It gets plenty of light and afternoon sun. Perfect for herbs!

I wanted to decorate the terrarium with a spring garden theme and the herbs fit right in. I filled in the spaces around the herbs with various spring items. A garden statue of a garden trowel with a small chickadee on it’s handle, sits right in front. I placed a bird’s nest in the blade of the trowel statue.

I nestled in two wooden birds perched on top of wooden spools. They seem to be peeking out of the terrarium.

This bird’s nest looks like it was built in this empty clay pot and sits next to another empty pot.

My bird’s eye view (no pun intended) gives you a better look at the herbs and wooden bird. Sweet Basil, Oregano, Parsley and Cilantro (Coriander) are the featured plants. These are my favorite and most used herbs in my kitchen.

Arn’t these wooden birds precious? They fit in perfectly with the terrarium and around the herbs.

It seems like these wooden birds are very comfortable in my kitchen garden.

  3. This is a beautiful idea and I love the way you have everything displayed; the birds are so cute!!
I have an old wooden wagon on my back porch that is full of all sorts of herbs. It is easy to reach out the back door and snatch some for use in the kitchen. They also work well (and smell AMAzing) for little “bouquets” if I am low on flowers in the yard!
    Have a good weekend and
    be blessed!

    • Thanks J! I’m happy you enjoyed my herb garden. I love having them right there in the kitchen…though I might have to move them outside to get more sun. I’ll have to wait and see. Your wooden wagon sounds wonderful…what a great way to display the herbs and very convenient.
      Have a lovely weekend!
