In our basement recreation room we have a really cool table I found many years ago. It’s a shadow box table or memory table. I had old photos, mementos and small keepsakes in the table. I wanted to change it and decided on a summery display.
I created a sea collage in the table using various nautical objects. It’s the theme I have going on throughout the home this summer.
Starfish, sea shells, mini sail boats (they’re actually place card holders) and glass buoys are some of the nautical items I used.
I bought wire sea creatures (fish, seahorses and dolphins) and placed them among the other pieces in the table. They have teal colored glass ball middles and add a cute touch with a pop of color to the design.
Flickering faux tea light candles add a lovely warm glow. What’s really cool is they’re timed to go on for a few hours every night. I don’t have to open the drawer and disturb the design to turn them on and off.
I created little lanterns with clam shells by placing a tea light candle in one of the shells and placing another shell to the back of it. It’s a cute look that works perfectly in my sea collage design.
The felt liner on the bottom of the drawer gives the collage a dramatic appearance. The items I’ve used pop against the black color.
I hope you enjoyed my “Sea Scape Shadow Box Table” post!
