Christmas Creche

Christmas Creche

Today I would love to share my Christmas creche or manger with you. I thought the most important part of this holiday (holy-day) is the lovely birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. So, before I share my other Christmas decorations, I felt deeply moved to reveal this Christmas display first!

Christmas Creche

I wanted a unique spot for my Nativity Scene this year and decided the cabinet in my family room would serve the purpose nicely. There are four shelves and each shelf would express the four different events of Jesus’ birth.

The first event is the birth of course. I love this beautiful and humble nativity set from Willow. The virgin Mary holding baby Jesus is so sweet and pure. I set the second shelf with Mary, Joseph and the animals that might have been in the manger with them. A little angle sits adoring the baby Jesus and creates the loveliest and sweetest expression one could have for the event. And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7

What works so perfectly with the cabinet is the glass between the shelves. The top (heaven) shelf holds the angels above the holy family. They are watching over the lovely family with all the glory of heaven. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:13-14

The third shelf is the shepherds in the field and lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the LORD shone round about them and they were afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Luke 2:9-12
The rosary beads that are arranged in front of the shepherd are made from a Christian community in Bethlehem. They hand carve all their religious pieces from the olive trees grown there. In this particular rosary there is sand from Bethlehem in the medallion of Mary. Watch video from Bethlehem Olive Wood Gifts

The forth shelf holds the three wise men. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother and fell down and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold and frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:10-11

    • Hi Cindy! Thank you for your lovely comments. I’m happy with the way the cabinet came out. I wanted something different this year for my creche and this worked perfectly! I’m happy you enjoyed it.
      Blessings to you too!

  1. It always amazes me how complete strangers, in far flung states, have so many of the same thoughts! I am SO in love with your manger. I always set ours up in a two tiered early American dry sink. The angels go on the top shelf, and the manger is in the lower opening. I imagine myself being there as I set each well loved piece in place. Now I can imagine that you are there helping me get everything just right in praise to Him!!
    So many blessings to you,
    J

    • Thank you J and God Bless you! I was very excited putting together this Christmas cabinet crèche. I should have named the post that! Lol. I had more fun setting this up than my tree! I hope these little tokens shows Jesus our never ending love and adoration for Him. I’m delighted you enjoyed my nativity display! Thank you for your lovely and sweet comments.
      Many Blessing to you too!
