Lovely Peonies and Roses

Lovely Peonies and Roses

Today I’m sharing the floral design I created on my living room mantel.  I love how layering creates a full elegant look.  I started with a rose hip garland that I’ve used before and added beautiful peonies and roses.  Perfect for a pretty summer display that can be easily changed to an autumn display.

I centered a topiary first then built the florals around it.  I wanted the garland to cascade in the middle of the mantel so that the mantel shelf would appear deeper than it is.

Pretty shades of peach and pink add a perfect amount of color to the white peony flowers.  They complement the peach tone drapery in the room.

I’m such a floral lover.   Peony and roses are one of my all time favorites.  They are so easily worked into a design and give a lovely romantic look to anything.  They make you feel so welcomed and can certainly lift you up when you are feeling down.  I feel they are one of God’s most perfect flowers.

On the coffee table in the room sits a rustic lantern.  I placed a rose hip wreath around the lantern along with more of the peonies and roses used on the fireplace mantel.  I wanted to match the look of the mantel on the table to create continuity in my design.

With autumn just around the corner, I can easily take out the topiary and some of the peonies while leaving the roses and adding some small white pumpkins to the floral display.

  1. Hi, LuAnn! I’m always so thrilled when you post. Your mantle garland and wreath are just stunning. Love peonies and roses, and the colors you chose are so pretty–really does go well with your draperies. This is yet another lovely idea for me to file away–I love all your beautiful creations! Hope all is well your way. It’s been an unusually HOT summer for us here in Kennett Square, PA–glad fall is forthcoming. Hugs!

    1. Hi Bobbi! I’m so happy you enjoyed my post and to hear from you. Peonies and roses are my favorite! Everything is very well here in CT. It’s pretty humid here but love it when it’s breezy with a low humidity.

  2. LuAnn, thank you for stopping by Friday Features to share your mantel decoration, the Peonies and roses are absolutely beautiful, the colors are gorgeous!! You have such a beautiful home!!!
Have a great day and wonderful week!
    Hugs!! Karren

  3. What a gorgeous mantle arrangement! Did you have real flowers to work with? If not, they certainly look real and so lovely. The lantern arrangement on the coffee table is beautiful, too. I am wanting to find a lantern to use in my home decor. Haven’t found exactly the right one at the right price yet! But I will!

    1. Thank you Naomi for your lovely comment! I used faux flowers in the arrangement on my mantel. I happily found very real looking faux peonies and roses to use in this design. There are so many lanterns to select from lately…good luck in your search for the perfect one!
Thanks again for stopping by and saying hello!

  4. LuAnn, your mantle display looks stunning! Peonies and roses are my favourite flowers and I just love what you’ve done here. I also love how versatile the displays are and how easy you have made it to switch them up for fall. Thank you so much for sharing, and for being a part of The Hearth and Soul Link party.
