Creating a Starring Room with a Few Changes

Starring Room

My thirteen year old son, Joey, outgrew his twin size bed that he used since he was four years old. For six years he shared the room with his older brother Steven. When their sister Jenn got married and moved out three years ago, my son, Nick, moved into her room and Steve took Nick’s. Now Joe had the room to himself and there was much rejoicing from both of them! There is an eight year difference between them and they surely needed their own space.

My husband and I decided to change our mattress and give the (not so old) one we were using to Joe. He loved the idea of getting a queen size bed. Nice and big with all that room for him to roll around on. I found this bronze iron frame bed at a local furniture store while shopping with my daughter for her new home. It was what I needed for Joe and I even got it on sale! The rustic feel of the iron scroll work fit right in with the room’s decor.

When I saw these wooden stars at a favorite home decor store, I knew they would perfectly replace the framed prints I had originally on the walls. They also carried the rustic theme I was trying to create in the room.

The room has a gender neutral feel to it. Joey loves having a larger bed that looks very cool. With only a few changes I was able to give the space a different look and feel. We are both very pleased with it, especially now that he has more area to grow up in.

I had this bird cage shelf unit in my bedroom. Joey needed something to display his figurines from Mine Craft and Zelda games. The figurines were small and I didn’t want them to get lost on a wall shelf. The cage shelf unit would work flawlessly with the items contained in one area.

His figurines look great and make a nice display. I didn’t have to purchase another side table just yet, instead, the bird cage shelf unit fills in the space nicely.
