Happy Friday! Today I am continuing with my vignette theme in the kitchen. I thought I would share the various vignettes I have throughout the room. I like to dress up the counters just a little. I feel they need to stay clear to be functional, but the tops of the cabinets are another thing. I like to set up scenes way up there. That space is a large void and needs attention. I am lucky to have a ten foot ceiling in my kitchen, which allows a lot of area to work with.
I tried to fill the space with items that matched my kitchen or followed a theme. The large space needed large elements and these serving pieces worked! I didn’t have a place to store them so why not display them. Large sized plate stands worked well to prop them up to view.
The pitcher was a good size that worked well and so was the rooster. Faux greenery filled it in nicely! I use artificial plants because from a distance you can’t tell they’re not real and watering plants on top of cabinets is cumbersome.
OK, you might say, “What’s up with the bunnies?” Well, I love them in my pseudo Country French design. They give a warm and welcoming feeling that makes you smile. I say pseudo because the wallpaper is more of an English design. My design style is an eclectic mix of various traditional styles throughout my home. French, English, Early American with a touches of Shabby Chic.
I am a wallpaper nut, I’ll admit it! I just can’t get use to painted walls. It’s a personal thing, I know. The paper I used in the kitchen has stood the test of time, with five kids and all their friends and cousins over constantly! A lot of activities and holidays and did I mention, they are still here now, some of them in their twenties! Though my daughter left home and had gotten married almost two years ago, her and her husband are over a lot. It is a very active home and this kitchen is always being used all day and night!
Yes, there is a flat screen TV behind those cabinet doors! I like that I could close the doors and not see the TV, but we do leave them open at dinner time to watch TV while eating. I have four boys and my husband and guess what they like to watch! Any sport related program there is. That is why I blog! lol When they aren’t home I get to watch my design programs, but sometimes they do watch them with me in the kitchen. Lucky Me! There are a lot of TVs all over the house, but it seems like everyone migrates to the kitchen to eat and watch TV. I don’t mind. This way I get to see and talk to them, even with the TV on!
The side cabinet next to the TV displays my miniature pitcher collection. Pitchers in whites and creams are my favorite in any size, shape and design. I use them for drinks, gravies, sauces, florals and displays. I find them best for flower arrangements. They make wonderfully interesting floral designs.
I showed this hutch here in the kitchen a few posts ago. It displays more of the pitchers I love as well as dishes and some of my crystal glasses. The vignette at the top just continues with the theme in the kitchen just in a little different way.
I’m so glad you stopped in my kitchen today! I hope you have a lovely weekend!
