Create a Touch of Spring in Winter

IMG_2836Even though it’s cold outside and snowing, you can have a touch of spring here and there inside your home.IMG_2912A pretty vase or pitcher, with pink roses, is a sure way to get that happy spring time feeling.  Instead of just pink roses, try using a variety of colored roses together or even different colored tulips.  I love the rainbow look.  It’s very bright and cheery! IMG_2914A small orchid can be just the right touch under a glass cloche.IMG_2872IMG_2870How about a small spring garden in a terrarium, bird cage or large basket to shake  off the winter blues?  There are many ways to display flowers around your home.  Purchase the variety of flowers you like and think out of the box for displaying them.  There are no set rules and what ever materials you have at hand can work.  Any size bowl, teapot, coffee pot or tea cup will look great in your kitchen or sun room.  Try using a watering can with a large opening for a pretty spring display in a sunny room. Fill the can with one type of bloom, then fill two more watering cans (either larger or smaller) with different blooms.  Keep them all together for the best impact.IMG_2932IMG_2926 I have a large bird cage in my kitchen, in which I do different displays for each season. This time I used the ivy I had in the cage, with flameless candles and faux birds I purchased at Pottery Barn. The birds are, of course, quite appropriate for the bird cage and gives it a cheerful look.  Even though winter might still be hanging around where you are, Spring is right around the corner and you can welcome it early with small touches inside your home.
