Lovely Valentine Wreaths

Wreaths are wonderful to use year round and at Christmas time. It is a sign of faith and of victory over life’s challenges. You can hang a wreath on the front door to welcome guests, on a cabinet, on a wall, or even on a wreath stand. A wreath adds to a room’s decor and is a lovely way to give a feeling of comfort and warmth.

Most wreaths come in the shape of a circle, but today I’m displaying two heart shaped wreaths for Valentine’s Day. The shape of a circle signifies no beginning and no ending. It represents the eternal nature of God’s love and the circle of life. What better way to reflect Saint Valentine’s Day and God’s love for us, than through a heart shape? The heart shape also has no beginning and no ending.

I chose to use Cardinals on my white wreath for a few reasons. Their red color is such a beautiful contrast to the white roses and adds an exceptional elegance to the design of the wreath.
Cardinals take a mate for life. Their relationships with their spouses are romantic and musical. The male and female sing duets, calling similar songs to each other. Native American folk lore says if you come across a Cardinal that attracts your attention and you’re single, there may be a romantic relationship in your near future. If you’re already in a relationship, you may experience renewed romance.
For Christians, Cardinal Red is the color symbolic of the Blood of Christ and the hope humanity gained from his resurrection. Cardinal is the name, as well as the color worn by Cardinals, the highest priests in the Roman Catholic Church. Red is worn on the day of Pentecost, as a sign to celebrate the birth of the Christian Church. Red is symbolic of steadfast faith.
What better way to symbolize Saint Valentine’s Day than with the use of these beautiful birds?
I continued to use the black check ribbon on the wreath. I wanted to keep the continuity in the kitchen the same with the other designs on my table and island.

A red rose wreath hangs on a wreath stand in my family room. I purchased it from a favorite home decor store. I love that you can write a message above the wreath on the lovely framed chalk board.

I love the versatility of the wreath stand. It allows you to hang your wreath anywhere in your home. Any empty corner or space needing to be filled, is easily decorated with the stand and a beautiful wreath of your choice.

I embellished the wreath with some white twine hearts left over from my kitchen island display. The black check bow contrasts beautifully against the red roses and continues with my design theme from the kitchen.
