Today, Catholics celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption. The Blessed Virgin Mary, whom we reflect on, was assumed body and soul into heaven. Jesus would not allow his mother’s body to be subjected to corruption. Mary was all pure in body and soul and as the Mother of God, the Ark of the Covenant, the new Eve, the Queen of all Heaven and Earth and so much more, not to remain buried here on earth and subject to decay. She reminds us that our earthly existence is only temporary and we should all seek to resemble her in all that we do and say. We pray to the Holy Spirit to transform us with and through Mary into “another Christ Jesus,” for the glory of the Father and the salvation of the world. Let us all be worthy to attain our heavenly home and through our prayers to Mary for her intercession, on our behalf to our Heavenly Father, to help us with this worthiness.
