Dipped in the instincts of Heaven,
Robed in the garments of earth,
Maiden and Mother and Queen,
Wearing each crown at thy birth:
Threefold thy gift to the world,
Pluck’d from God’s ripening sky,
Tending the altar of life,
Kindred to angels on high.
-“Woman,” Thomas O’Hagan

The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated today, September 8th, nine months after the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Blessed Virgin’s parents, St. Ann and Joachim, were an aging couple praying for a child. Mary’s birth was miraculous, as she was conceived without sin (Immaculate Conception), an exclusive grace God bestowed upon her because she was predestined to be the mother of the Incarnate Son of God. The birth of the Virgin Mary ushers in the dawn of the redemption of the human race through Jesus Christ. – The Catholic Company

Mary, the Mother of God, was gifted with many graces and trained in faithfulness. She believed by faith and she conceived by faith. God had a plan for Mary before her conception and her gifted graces helped her to conform to the plan. When she was approached by the angel Gabriel she didn’t hesitate…her YES was immediate. Her magnificat spoken during her visitation with Elizabeth was her perfect trust in God’s plan. -“little sins MEAN A LOT” by Elizabeth Scalia

Thanksgiving for Mary, Our Mother
O Jesus, Divine Master, I thank and bless Your most merciful Heart, for having given us Mary most holy as our mother, teacher and queen. From the cross You placed us all in her hands. You gave her a great heart, much wisdom and immense spiritual power. May all humanity know her and pray to her! May all permit themselves to be led by her to you, the Savior of all the world! I place myself in her hands, as You did. With this Mother I wish to live now, in the hour of my death, and for all eternity.
Amen.
