O God, who through the fruitful virginity of Blessed Mary bestowed on the human race the grace of eternal salvation, grant, we pray, that we may experience the intercession of her, through whom we were found worthy to receive the author of life. – 23 Collect of the Mass
Filial devotion to Mary is a necessary part of the Christian calling. We should always be ready to run to Mary who consoles us in times of distress, strengthens our faith, hope and charity, shatters our fears and helps us with the courage we need to live a holy life.
Today, when we see a picture of Mary, we can speak to her, at least in our hearts and say: “My Mother “, knowing that she is protecting us and helping us to begin this New Year, that God has given us, with the confidence that we are being helped from Heaven.
Beautiful image. I keep a lovely old statue of Mary at my bedside as I speak to Her. I also have a beautiful framed print of Mary and her dear Baby Jesus by Leonardo DaVinci, that hung in my childhood home and became mine after my dear parents passed on. Seeing her image seems to humble me. Thanks for your post.
Thank you Pam for your lovely comment. I too have pictures and statues of Mary throughout my home. I go to her many times when I’m distressed. She is such a comfort. Thank you God for our most Blessed Mother!
